A colour change gives a boat an entirely new identity. But a good result is more than choosing the colour; it takes the right system and workmanship.
The process
The existing surface is assessed, prepared and the right primer system applied. Primer is critical in a colour change because it determines the new colour's coverage and adhesion. Then multi-coat paint is applied.
Beware dark colours
Dark colours look elegant but heat up more in the sun and show every flaw. When choosing dark, surface prep matters even more; heat can also affect the material beneath.
A lasting result
A colour change is usually done in 2K polyurethane. Names and graphics also need replanning for the new colour.
