The deck is a boat's first impression

A teak deck is the most eye-catching surface on a boat, for both looks and safety. Over the years teak thins, seams open and water starts to seep below. At Tekne Usta we lay new teak, renew old decks and repair seams with meticulous craftsmanship.

Our teak services

  • New teak decking — natural teak or maintenance-free synthetic teak options
  • Old teak renewal — sanding, seam renewal and surface restoration
  • Seam (caulking) renewal — removing and remaking leaking black seams
  • Regular teak care — keeping teak warm-toned rather than grey

Natural or synthetic teak?

Natural teak has an unmatched grain but needs regular care. Synthetic teak needs no maintenance, won't soften in heat and offers a wide colour range. We recommend both depending on your use and budget.

Price and timing

Teak decking cost depends on deck area, chosen material and seam condition. Local renewals take a few days; a full deck 1–3 weeks.

Teak options compared

In decking, natural and synthetic options each have their place. The table below makes deciding easier (detail: teak vs synthetic).

OptionMaintenanceStands out for
Natural teakNeeds regular careUnique grain, classic prestige
PVC teak (Flexiteek-style)Maintenance-freeSeamless, waterproof
EVA foamMaintenance-freeEconomical, soft, non-slip

Seams only, or a full deck?

The decision depends on teak thickness. If the teak is still thick enough, seam renewal is far more economical and restores watertightness. If thinned, a full deck is needed. We measure the thickness at the survey and advise you correctly — we don't recommend needless big work.

The workmanship difference

In teak, straight lines, clean corner transitions and watertight seams decide the result. We explain the items that affect price in our teak deck cost article.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your Questions Answered

It looks very close; the advantage is no maintenance, non-slip and no softening in heat. For those who want the real grain, we also offer natural teak.
If the teak is still thick enough, yes — we remove and remake the old seams to restore watertightness. If the teak has thinned, we recommend a full deck.
UV and salt oxidise the surface. Regular care keeps the warm tone; if neglected, it's renewed by sanding.
