Choosing the right antifouling

Not every antifouling suits every boat. Together we decide whether you need a hard matrix or a self-polishing type based on your boat's material, speed and the water it sits in. See our antifouling guide for detail.

Price and timing

Painting cost depends on boat length, number of coats and the extent of surface prep. An antifouling refresh takes a few days; a full topside repaint 1–3 weeks. We give a firm quote after inspecting the surface.

The secret to lasting paint: surface prep

Most of the cost and quality is in the prep, not the paint. Without correct sanding, degreasing, filling and priming, even the most expensive paint soon blisters. We quote itemised — prep, primer, coat count and labour shown separately — so you avoid cheap-looking jobs that end up half-done (see painting cost).

Topside: gelcoat or paint?

When renewing a faded surface, gelcoat and paint serve different aims. If the surface is sound, gelcoat renewal is economical; for a colour change or superyacht gloss, 2K polyurethane paint is preferred. To decide, see our gelcoat or paint article.
