The marina where you berth directly affects your enjoyment, budget and ease of maintenance. Look at these criteria to choose well.

Location and access

Proximity to home/work determines how often you'll use the boat. A distant marina, however lovely, can become somewhere you "can't be bothered" to go.

Shelter

Shelter from wind and waves is critical for both safety and wear. An open, wave-exposed harbour tires the boat more.

Service and haul-out

A haul-out option at or near the marina makes maintenance far easier. Access to service providers (like us) matters too.

Cost

Berthing fees vary greatly by boat length and region. It's one of the biggest items in annual cost of ownership; calculate it upfront.

Security and community

Cameras/security, pontoon quality and the marina community shape the experience. Visit before deciding and talk to current owners.
