Antifouling choice on aluminium boats is a different and critical matter than on fibreglass and wood. The wrong paint causes galvanic corrosion; so a copper-free system is essential.
Why copper-free?
Copper-based antifouling in contact with aluminium triggers galvanic corrosion and seriously damages the hull. On aluminium, only copper-free formulas are safe.
The right primer system
Aluminium needs a special (usually epoxy) primer system for adhesion and metal protection. Surface prep is even more decisive than on fibreglass (see aluminium boat painting).
