Spring Boat Maintenance: A Checklist to Start the Season Right

A boat that's sat all winter needs a careful spring check before launch. A good start doubles the season's enjoyment. Here's the pre-launch checklist.

Hull and underwater

• Check the antifouling and renew if needed.
• Scan the hull for scratches, cracks and osmosis signs.
• Check anodes and replace spent ones.

Hull and deck

• Gelcoat/paint gloss; polish if needed.
• Winter wear on teak and exterior wood; seam check.
• Check deck areas for softness (water ingress).

Interior

• Check for damp and mould; ventilate well.
• Look for damp/mould marks on fabric and cushions.
